I want a camera, what should I get?

I get this question A LOT. You are interested in a beginner camera but not sure where to start. Well here is a guide that includes tips and advice for all budget types!

Purchasing a quality DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) camera is an investment but it doesn’t have to break the bank. You can purchase a quality camera either new or used from many retailers. I am a Canon user so of course that is who I recommend but I am happy to share other competing brands as well.

My first recommendation is do not be fooled into purchasing the entire kit they offer. Typically the lenses aren’t great and you can get a better lens/camera combo for the same price.

So here is what I personally recommend.

Purchase one of the following:

Canon EOS Rebel T7i DSLR Camera Body

Canon EOS Rebel T8i Body

Canon EOS 80D DSLR Camera

Then…..

Purchase one of the following

Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Standard and Medium Telephoto Lens for Canon SLR Cameras

A reflector enhances your subject by reflecting available light onto them. These are easy to use and portable.

Neewer Light Reflector 5-in-1
